NEW CALEXICO ALBUM THIS FALL!

Two years after Garden Ruin, Calexico has returned and is offering up Carried To Dust, the new full-length record due September 9, 2008.

For Carried To Dust, Calexico co-founders Joey Burns and John Convertino called on a rotating cast of musicians and friends to help them create what is arguably their most varied and strongest work to date. The band lineup that solidified around Feast of Wire is back again, along with a number of guests, including Sam Beam, Douglas McCombs, and Pieta Brown.

This new record is a shining example of Calexico's commitment to constantly molting and redefining who they are. A continued examination of their sources of inspiration, Carried To Dust is the next step in Calexico's ongoing quest of moving forward while never turning its back on the past.

Along with extending the collaborative bridges with other artists, Carried To Dust also reflects Calexico's amazing live shows, as well as underscoring the band's restraint and beauty. A remarkably well-rounded album, Carried To Dust showcases every aspect of Calexico's exceptional talents.

3 Imagninary Boys

Sunday night at The Shrine auditorium, The Cure played and intimate show the day after their sold out Hollywood Bowl evening. This performance has left me speechless, so I am going to do my best to talk about it. I unfortunately did not have my camera, so no pics, sorry guys. I have seen The Cure a number of times since before Disintegration, and this by far, in my opinion, was the best I have ever seen! When the chandelier lights went down, the stage turned into a majestic view of stars as if we were descending into space. The boys came out, Robert, shy as ever, and they started off with a bang! Then going into their classic 'Pictures of You'! The performed over 39 songs, and played for 3 hours and 15 minutes, with no break. They performed everything from Boys Don't Cry, 100 Years, Strange Day, Killing an Arab, Jumping Someone Else's Train, Fire in Cairo, Just Like Heaven, and the list goes on and on and on. ALL CLASSICS, ALL NIGHT!!!! Now growing up, I used to save up all my dollars and go into the city and buy whatever rare Cure goods I could get my hands on, no matter the price. It came to a point where my family was going to take me to counseling because I had almost 200 pictures of Robert Smith on my walls, and my parents couldn't figure out why my idol wore makeup. I finally would make them mixed tapes, and then they understood (and actually liked them). This show was definitely the icing on my birthday week. It was a truly amazing show, that I will never, EVER forget.

IN CASE YOU MISSED EM...

Coldplay performed live on the MTV Movie Awards yesterday after their long absence from the stage . I really like Coldplay, but they didn't sound as polished as usual. I know they haven't performed in some time, so I'm sure it was just a mixture of nerves and getting use to being back in front of an audience. Lets hope they can shake all of those things on the upcoming Viva La Vida tour.

The National HOB, San Diego

Although The National were opening for R.E.M at the Hollywood Bowl the next night, I decided to head to San Diego to catch them at a smaller venue: the House of Blues, and it happened to be my birthday, and yes, I flew solo to the show. I had not been feeling that great for the few days prior, including that day, but decided to go anyways, as they are one of my favorite bands, and put on some of the most intense shows I have seen in long time.

I arrived Downtown San Diego HOURS before the show, walked around for five minutes, decided it was too hot, so I went to my car, cranked up the air conditioning and took a nap for two hours. After waking up, still hours to go, I called my cousin to meet me for appetizers and I watched her drink a martini and had a nice innocent ginger ale. We left that place, with still two hours to go, and headed to the House of Blues Bar to hang there until the doors opened. After about 30 minutes, I looked up to see the guitarist from The National standing there, meek, with his hands in his pockets looking for someone. I was coaxed to go say something, but that's not my style, so I left him alone and he went back to his table with the rest of the band, sans the singer and drummer. Minutes later he came back, and I came up with the dork courage to say something. I discretely called him over, and introduced myself and my cousin, Brynn, and he was sweet as pie. He told us to hang on a second, and went and grabbed the rest of the band and introduced them to us and they sat around and hung out with us for a good 15 minutes, at least. My cousin told them it was my B-Day, and I came down alone, and was going to the show, alone..........they were all really genuine and real and wished me a happy birthday and thanked me for my gratitude towards the band.

7:00 came, I walked my cousin to her car, and went to the venue to grab my place on the floor. While waiting for the opening act, I met a cute couple from upstate NY, Alex and Lora, who were en route from NY to Portland, and being The National fans they were, they decided to drive 18 hours out of there way to see this show, their 7th time at a National show, die hard fans, my kind of people. We talked, and laughed, and they gave me raspberry gum, which lost it's flavor half way through the long set of the opening band. Lights came up, curtains closed, and we waited. Anxiously.

As with every show, house lights went down, the curtains opened to an empty stage. The band walked out and the sold out audience went crazy. They introduced some visiting artists they had on stage with them, a fiddle player, and trombone player, and a trumpet man! The first four songs were passionate, loud, intense, and even brought a tear to my eye. They stopped for a pause, and the singer slyly said my name , "Cory". He announced that it was my birthday, the guitarists pointed me out, he came to the foot of the stage and told the crowd I was solo on my birthday, came down from LA to see them, and for them all to wish me warm birthday wishes. The crowd started shouting Happy Birthdays, we love you Cory, and all sorts of other wishes. He then said this song is for you, I hope you like it. One of the other guitarists leaned into the mic, looked at me and said 'yes, this is your song tonight, so we do hope you like it'. First three chords into it, I knew it was 'ABEL', which happens to be my favorite song, and I went crazy! Definitely worth my day, my not feeling well, my drive and my nap in my car.

Aside from my personal experience, it was, by far, the BEST and most energetic show I have seen them perform. They even said it was the best time, and performance they have ever put on. Their intensity, and passion brought tears to my eyes, and I went nuts throughout the whole show! They came back for an encore, ended with Mr. November, then started to leave, came back and said, we are having such a great night, we are going to play one more and ended the set with a 15 minute version of 'About Today', a song I have never heard them perform, it was spectacular!!

ST. LOUIS (May 14, 2008) – Loudmouth Music
Management/Booking/Promotion (Loudmouth) adds a new facet to the
promotional upstart with the announcement of www.loudmouthstl.com.
Loudmouthstl.com will officially launch on June 13, 2008 at 7 p.m. at
The Gramophone with a special showcase featuring four Midwest artists.
The website is poised to generate an interactive music community made
up of both musicians and fans with the intent to elevate the music
scene in St. Louis while making regional music and concerts more
accessible. All Loudmouth members will receive free admission to the
June 13 show.

Loudmouth has formed an impressive line-up to launch the site to the
St. Louis music community. St. Louis hip-hop mainstays, Earthworms
along with F5 label mate Nato Caliph will energize the night.
Chicago-based signer-songwriter Todd Kessler will open the evening and
Nashville alt-rockers, The Last Almanac, are sure to get the crowd
moving.

Loudmouth invites everyone to The Gramophone starting at 7 p.m. for a
hands-on look at the website. Guests will be able to logon and create
profiles to interact with local bands, upload show video and photos,
view show calendars and more. Loudmouthstl.com boasts exciting
features for users – including a guest list for upcoming shows and
member profiles.

Loudmouthstl.com seeks to regionalize online music social networking
communities throughout the country. With plans already in place to
expand to Nashville in early 2009, Loudmouth has an aggressive model.
Large regional festivals and music based events are also in place for
the remainder of 2008 in multiple cities throughout the Midwest in
support of the website.

"St. Louis has such a great music scene that needs to be promoted.
Loudmouthstl.com is for everyone. It's functional for both the

The Gramophone, St. Louis' newest live music venue, is located at 4243
