THE DOCTOR IS IN...

I'm not really sure how true this is, but it sounds pretty legit! Dr. Pepper has promised to give a free can of Dr Pepper to every American if Guns N Roses released their long awaited album in 2008.

Now that the Gunners' Chinese Democracy is really and truly about to hit the shelves, the soft drink giant has announced it will honour its pledge, say web reports. "We never thought this day would come," said a Dr Pepper spokesman. "Now it's here, all we can say is the Dr Pepper's on us."

To get their free drinks, Americans will need to pop over to Dr Pepper's website where they can obtain a voucher. But the bar is only open for the 24 hours after Chinese Democracy's US release date. But there are a couple of people who won't be getting their free visit from the good Doctor. The compay said in an "unprecedented show of solidarity with Axl (Rose)", everyone is eligible a free can, "except estranged guitarists Slash and Buckethead". But Axl is a little more generous. "As some of Buckethead's performances are on our album, I'll share my Dr Pepper with him," said the front Gunner.

The album, set for release on November 23 is the first studio recording from Guns N Roses since 1993.

Josh Schwartz (The OC, Gossip Girl, Chuck) is at it again – this time he is taking it to the web and uncovering the hottest bands you should know about (if you don’t already).

Production just started on the scripted, music-themed series in Silverlake, and the first batch of bands is announced in the release below, including notables like The Kooks and Lykke Li. (October 29, 2008) – TheWB.com – a premium, ad-supported, video-on-demand, interactive and personalized network – today announced the cast and the first group of bands to be featured on “Rockville, CA,” the music-themed scripted web series created by Josh Schwartz (“Gossip Girl,” “Chuck,” “The O.C.”). Production on the show began earlier this month at The Echo, a popular club and indie music venue in Los Angeles.

“Rockville, CA” will premiere on TheWB.com in 2009 with an initial run of 20 episodes. Each band featured on “Rockville, CA” (the series) will play a set at Rockville (the fictional club in the show), against the backdrop of a weekly episodic scripted drama. In addition to viewing full episodes, TheWB.com community will be able to stream and download exclusive tracks from the show, and watch videos, interviews and other “Rockville, CA” extra content at www.thewb.com when the series launches.

Executive producer and music supervisor Alex Patsavas (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “The O.C.,” “Gossip Girl”) – whose golden touch is responsible for the mainstream media debuts of more than a dozen popular bands, including The Killers (“The O.C.”), Death Cab for Cutie (“The O.C.”) and The Fray (”Grey’s Anatomy”) – personally selected the acts to be featured on the first season of “Rockville, CA.” Leading the pack of indie favorites scheduled to appear are The Duke Spirit, Eagles of Death Metal, Earlimart, Frightened Rabbit, The Kooks, The Little Ones, Lykke Li, Nico Stai, Passion Pit, Phantom Planet, and White Lies. Additional bands will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The web has already changed the way an entire generation of music fans find and experience new music,” said Schwartz. “Now that original scripted television on the web is becoming more and more popular on sites like TheWB.com, ‘Rockville’ is our shot at seamlessly combining the power and passion of music with the drama of television.”

“Fictional or not, we are going to make ‘Rockville’ the hottest indie music venue on the web,” said Patsavas.

“Rockville, CA” stars Andrew West (“Privileged”), Alexandra Chando (“As the World Turns”), Ryan Hansen (“Veronica Mars,” “Las Vegas”) and Mighty Rasta (“Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay,” “My Wife and Kids”).

WE BID ROBYN A FINAL FARWELL FOR NOW @ THE HOTEL CAFE

After last weeks acoustic performance at Spaceland, and spending our Saturday evening with her at Indie 103.1, she finished off her visit to L.A. at the Hotel Cafe. With another intimate acoustic performance, she proved herself again that she can be a pop sensation as well as a melancholic singer/songwriter type. Singing 'With Every Heartbeat', 'Be Mine' and her ever so popular 'Show Me Love', it was truly a performance of grandeur.

I look forward to new music from this lovely Swede and seeing her again next time she visits Los Angeles. She just proves my point once again, that music from Sweden rocks, and this is definitely their time to shine!

ROBYN & LADY TIGRA INVADE INDIE 103.1

On Saturday night I had the rare opportunity to hang out at the Indie 103 studios in Los Angeles for a very special in-studio session with Robyn and Lady Tigra. My friend Paul V hosts Neon Noise , a radio show on Indie from 12pm to 3am every Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Robyn has been in town this past week working. She's been working on music for future projects, performing an acoustic show at Spaceland in Silverlake and enjoying the sunny Southern California weather. She wraps it all up this week and heads back to Sweden, but first she has one more special acoustic show set for the Hotel Cafe TONIGHT!

Lady Tigra stopped by the studio to perform her latest track "First Black, First Lady," her ode to Michelle Obama. She also sang her "Phantom On The Bottom" mashup with her + Justice!!!

I must say that this was one of those moments that will stick with me forever. I mean, to be able to hang out at a radio station with Robyn and Lady Tigra like a foot away was just crazy to me. As you can see I posted some photos from the night and I will soon have video footage of us all just chillen' in the studio. Look for it later this week!
