"YOU'RE KICKEN ASS KATE NASH"

On Wednesday night I had the opportunity to see one of my favorite artists out of the UK right now. The AMAZINGLY TALENTED Kate Nash descended upon the Music Box in Hollywood, performing most of her songs from her debut album MADE OF BRICKS. This was her last stop on her tour, so I'm sure for her it was a bit emotional.

Along the way, Kate made us laugh with her stories about growing up and being locked in a cupboard by a "Dickhead" boy. She sang the song "Birds" which reinforced her hate for Segals and she even sang Happy Birthday to a real life "Mariella". The highlight of the evening for me was when Kate began singing "Foundations" and stopped a third of the way in to yell at security for trying to kick someone she knew out. She started the song again and the entire audience went crazy and began singing right along with her again. By the end of the night, I think I had taken a bit of her British accent on. She's super adorable and definitely deserving of all of her success!

NEW BAND ALERT!!

Oklahoma has more than "wind sweeping down the plain" these days. This group of talented guys are about to put the OC (Oklahoma City) back on the map. Get ready for The Uglysuit!! This band from the OC is ready to be that force to "sweep down the plane" and to show America that the wavin' wheat isn't the only thing to sure smell sweet. AMERICA...THE UGLYSUIT!!!

PRESS RELEASE

Quarterstick Records is pleased as punch to announce that we'll be releasing the debut album from Oklahoma City darlings *The Uglysuit * on August 19th.

Made up of six friends ranging in age from 20-23, The Uglysuit brings a different mentality to what they do – remarkably fresh-faced and honest, the band believes in letting loose, fostering a heartfelt atmosphere of hope and love, and works hard to shape what comes naturally. Playing together since their early teen years has given them an almost familial connection which shines through on their beautiful, fully-realized debut album.

The *self-titled record http://www.touchandgorecords.com/bands/album.php?id=468*, as well as the rest of their music, is an extended love song to the notion that everything is possible, yet nothing is guaranteed. It’s born of excitement and energy and built on potential and promise. It’s based on the premise that change exists in everything, and where a wide-eyed view of the world doesn’t equal naiveté. It reminds us that we are alive, and that maybe it’s not too late.

Equally exciting are the band's upcoming tour dates including the *Summer Camp Festival http://www.summercampfestival.com/2008/*, as well as some midwest joints with Iron and Wine. Preview the magic!

*The Uglysuit is:*
Israel Hindman - Lead Vocals, Guitar
Kyle Mayfield - Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums
Crosby Bray - Vocals, Drums, Guitar
Jonnnathan Martin - Vocals, Piano, Organ, Guitar
Colin Bray - Vocals, Guitar
Matt Harrison - Bass, Guitar

More info can be found at their page on our site http://www.touchandgorecords.com/bands/band.php?id=111* or *the band’s Myspace site http://www.myspace.com/theuglysuit*.

*Upcoming dates:*

May 24 - Summercamp Festival - Chillicothe, IL

HILLS PICK OF THE WEEK!

This is my last Hills Pick of the Week! Well, I guess it's the last one until the show starts back up in the fall. This weeks pick is from a girl by the name of Katy Perry. She has been getting tons of buzz for her song "Your So Gay". Even Madonna was raving about her song to Ryan Secrest on his radio show one morning.

Katy Perry (born Kathryn Hudson) is a singer/songwriter from Santa Barbara, California. At the age of 17, Perry began working with legendary producer and songwriter Glen Ballard. Katy's songs captured the attention of Virgin Records CEO Jason Flom, who was the head of Capitol Music Group. Katy Perry was signed to Capitol Music in Spring of 2007.

Here is a clip of Katy at SXSW singing her song featured on Monday nights episode of The Hills. It's called "Wakin Up In Vegas". Her debut album One Of The Boys is out now!

NEW COCOROSIE SINGLE - JUST RELEASED!!

It's a new music Tuesday and that means lots of great new music being released! You gotta check out the new track from CocoRosie. I want you all to download this single and play it at your next dinner party. It has a cool sexy beat that's sure to be a hit!!

LISTEN TO STREAM - http://www.touchandgorecords.com/cocostream/

Coming to us at what feels like a breaking point in humanity, God Has A Voice, She Speaks Through Me, intends to act as a hopeful light and a reminder of simple joys. With a springtime dance-floor sound, CocoRosie narrates a suicide story that takes place in a tender and elated moment of innocence, focusing on releasing and returning to Mother Nature.

CocoRosie’s fascination with combining things that clash continues to drive their process in both song and production. Their current creative environments range from hi-fi studios to simple field recordings (i.e. dolphin and whale sounds). Some inspirations to their hearts at the moment are Cher, Beethoven and finding true love’s kiss.

Bianca and Sierra are currently working on the follow up to their last full-length, The Adventures Of Ghosthorse & Stillborn, slated for release in 2009. This new work will continue in the vein of God Has A Voice; exploring spiritual dance music, driven by oceanic and apocalyptic themes.

Until then, the girls will continue their endless summer journey, one that has taken them to beach side studios around the world, where folk musicians from Madagascar and Reunion Island gathered to lend their hands in creating the future lives of CocoRosie.

CocoRosie is a musical duo formed by sisters Sierra Rose Casady ("Rosie") and Bianca Leilani Casady ("Coco") in 2003, for those of you who don't know.

Todd Kessler

If you are looking for some new and differet tunes, you should definitely give Chicago based singer/songwriter Todd Kessler a listen! His mix of pop-country-melodramatic melodies and melancholy, yet catchy lyrics gives faith to those that are lost in love or going through heartache.

On his first album, We Are the Musicmakers, songs such as 1000 Times Over and Shattered Glass prove his unique and intoxicating voice and passionate narratives.

From his most recent recordings, the Veronika EP show us that he has not only grown as a musician, but also a human. His vocals and lyrics are honest and heartfelt.

If I was to have to compare him to anybody, it would have to be Mexico born, Swedish raised Jose Gonzalez, but Todd is definitely his own. Check him out on itunes, or www.myspace.com/toddkessler!

Anyways, this reminds me of the weekends with my mom, so I dedicate this to my mommy. LOL! Again, Happy Mother's Day! XOXO

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

WISHING MY MOM AND ALL YOU OTHER MOMS A HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
