HOT SONG ALERT!

Ok...so I loved the original version of "Electric Feel" by MGMT, and now there is a new version by Katy Perry. I think I like! It may not be as good as the original, but it's still pretty HOT!

Listen to Katy's version and then MGMT's. What do you think?

THE FASHION ANNOUNCE FALL US TOUR DATES

DANISH DANCE-ROCK OUTFIT TO HIT THE ROAD WITH UH HUH HER

NEW YORK, NY - The Fashion has been tapped to open for Uh Huh Her this fall,
playing club dates around the country beginning October 17th through
mid-November. The band is out in support of their first American self-titled
release, which came out early Summer 2008 through Epic Records.

Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, The Fashion’s debut album Rock Rock Kiss
Kiss Combo was released in Denmark in September 2003 and gained extensive
airplay across Danish radio, MTV Fresh Pick of the Week and organic, critical
praise. Rolling Stone’s David Fricke said of the album, “There is something
hopping in the state of Denmark… The Fashion spin through the compact
songcraft and boombox-warrior innocence with nostalgic burps of lava-bubble
synth and the high, sharp vocal brass of Jakob Printzalau… ‘We rock the
party that rocks the body today,’ he yelps… and he’s right.”

The quartet “took a break from the industry for a couple years,” according
to singer Jakob Printzlau, to write their sophomore release. The result was
worth the wait – a creative collection of concise songs that blends together
a melting pot of genres and warrants comparisons to artists that run the gamut
from Bloc Party to the Beastie Boys. Printzlau, an active visual artist and
graphic designer, writes lyrics with a visual story in mind. He also directs all
of the band’s music videos.

The music video for lead single, “Solo Impala (Take the Money and Run)”
debuted this winter on MTVU and made its film festival premiere at 2008’s SXSW
where the band also made their first North American debut when they hit stage at
the FADER party.

Following the May release, they have since received praise from college radio,
spins on MTVU and coverage through dozens of online blogs. They recently wrapped
up a summer tour with Chicago punk stalwarts Alkaline Trio.

DEPECHE MODE SIGN WORLDWIDE DEAL

DEPECHE MODE SIGN WORLDWIDE EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH EMI MUSIC - TO INCLUDE THE U.S. FOR THE FIRST TIME.

AGREEMENT EXPANDS EMI LABEL MUTE'S DECADES-LONG RELATIONSHIP WITH MULTI-PLATINUM ELECTRONIC MUSIC VANGUARDS.

DEPECHE MODE TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN APRIL 2009, FOLLOWED BY FIRST-EVER STADIUM TOUR IN MAY.

LONDON, 7 OCTOBER 2009 -- EMI Music is thrilled to announce that it has signed an exclusive worldwide deal with multi-platinum recording artists Depeche Mode. EMI Music's Mute label has been the best-selling British trio’s international home since 1981 when the label released the group’s debut single "Dreaming of Me" in the U.K. The new deal means that EMI Music will now release Depeche Mode’s music in the U.S. for the first time, as well as in the rest of the world.

Andy Fletcher of Depeche Mode said: "We are so pleased to be continuing our relationship with Mute, and we feel very positive about the new team and set-up at EMI. This is going to be an exciting new chapter."

Nick Gatfield, EMI Music's president - A&R Labels, North America, the UK and Ireland, said: "We are delighted to be extending our relationship with Depeche Mode, and to be supporting them in the US for the first time. They are one of the world's most innovative and successful bands who continuously push boundaries and excite fans with their recording and live work."

Daniel Miller, chairman, Mute, said: "I am really happy to be continuing to work with the band. They have been reaching new creative heights in the studio and they have one of the most devoted fanbases of any band in the world today. I believe that the Mute and EMI teams are extremely well positioned to help Depeche Mode build on their success."

The first release under Depeche Mode’s worldwide agreement with EMI Music is a new studio album, the band’s twelfth, due outside the U.S. on April 20th, 2009, and in the U.S. on April 21st. Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, and Andy Fletcher are currently in New York working on the album, which will be the follow-up to Depeche Mode’s 2005 release Playing the Angel, which reached No. 1 in 18 countries.

In addition, Depeche Mode has announced dates for the European leg of its "Tour of the Universe 2009" — the group’s first-ever stadium tour in which they will perform in 28 cities across 21 countries. The tour, which kicks off in Israel on May 10th, is the band’s first since 2005’s "Touring the Angel" trek, which smashed European sales records with 1.8 million tickets sold across 87 shows.

Formed in Basildon, England, in 1980, Depeche are considered the founding fathers of the ’80s synthpop movement and have become one of the most influential pop groups of the last 25 years by inspiring generations of new artists with their sublime, superlative electronica. The group has racked up multiple hit singles, including "Just Can’t Get Enough," "Everything Counts," "Enjoy the Silence," "People Are People," "Master and Servant," "Personal Jesus," "Policy of Truth" and "Precious". Their 11 studio albums — 1981’s Speak & Spell, 1982’s A Broken Frame, 1983’s Construction Time Again, 1984’s Some Great Reward, 1986’s Black Celebration, 1987’s Music for the Masses, 1990’s Violator, 1993’s Songs of Faith and Devotion, 1997’s Ultra, 2001’s Exciter, and 2005’s Playing the Angel — have collectively sold more than 75 million copies worldwide.

BTS WITH JACK'S MANNEQUIN

Check out this behind the scenes footage with Jack's Mannequin for their video "The Resolution."

GET TO KNOW...

You know I'm a big fan of the singer songwriters and this one is definitely one to add to my list. She kind of sounds like Martha Wainwright with a dash of Fiona Apple. Get to know this one...I think you will like!

Pop singer-songwriter Laura Warshauer is a storyteller first and foremost. Through her music, she examines loss, love and life. The 24-year-old New Jersey native crafts sonic gems, through combining massive pop melodies and flourishes of folk. Her lyrical sensibility hearkens back to songsmiths like Joni Mitchell and Fiona Apple, while the music possesses a pop rock passion a la U2. Laura wants to take listeners on a journey, and her music's the perfect vessel. "Convince Myself," "December Night" and the first single, "Sweet 17," are entrancing, soothing and infectious. She's paved her own path, and the ride has just begun.

Laura will release her self-titled seven-song debut album on September 23 via Island/Pink Chariot/Fontana. The music is like an aural embrace, pulling listeners in and holding them tightly. "Please Don't Lie" features orchestral textures that perfectly compliment her warm, ethereal vocals. She describes her sound best, "There's definitely a folk sensibility, but it's really about grand melodies. I have a very classic pop structure in terms of my writing style, but lyrically, I offer a unique angle." That angle sees Laura exploring experiences intimately and in a relatable manner. Songs come naturally to Laura, and she lets inspiration take hold. "I say everything I need to in my songs. It's my job to stay out of the way and let the songs do the talking."

The songs spoke loud and clear, and Laura's immense talent caught the ear of Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid. He received one of her demos, and he had to go see her play. "He came to a Sunday night rehearsal, and his hands were in the air when he heard me. Afterwards he was speechless. The next day he asked me what I envisioned for myself. I looked him right in the eye and said, 'I want to rock stadiums, and I want to be doing it in 25 years.' He replied, 'I want to do it with you.'" Their partnership has set the stage for Laura's album this fall and her full-length, Such A Lovely Place, due out in 2009. There's no doubt she's on to big things.

The songs say it all. "Sweet 17" is a dreamy anthem of unrequited love. Laura reminisces about her high school years while exploring the relationship she could've had with a romantic interest. "I wanted to capture that nostalgic feeling of being 17. At the end of the day, it's a song about love: finding it, losing it, wondering if it exists or if it's only in your head. I bring a fantasy that I longed for to life. This wasn't necessarily the reality of my own life, but the song asks, 'What if it could've been?'" "Sweet 17" highlights Laura's unique voice and her knack for a big hook. "My Fault" further showcases her diversity. The heartfelt ballad explores abusive relationships intimately. "That song is especially poignant for me. I would love to be involved in organizations that speak out against domestic violence. People can relate to this song if they've ever been in a relationship where they've lost themselves. 'My Fault' captures what it feels like to be in an abusive situation."

Laura's created a compelling live show through numerous club concerts and festival dates. Her performances all at once encapsulate her strength and vulnerability. In addition to traditional gigs, she's been involved with Musicians On Call since she was 16. Musicians On Call began in the pediatric cancer ward at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, and the group allows artists to play bedside for patients. About these special performances, Laura comments, "You have three minutes to make a difference. You're either going to, or you're not. You can feel the results immediately. You want to take that person somewhere else."

In addition to an escape, Laura wants to give audiences something they can truly connect to. "People respond when you're honest in your art. I love it when people get a sense of something real, organic and human from my music. I want to make my music mean something, and I want them to feel an emotional connection. I also want to bring them on some sort of ride." It's going to be the ride of a lifetime, and Laura's driving.
