THE HEART IS A DRUM MACHINE

Lightyear Entertainment and Sneak Attack Media released 'The Heart is a Drum Machine', a documentary about music, physical reaction and obsession. This DVD came out March 9th and I highly recommend watching it. I just finished this documentary and am so inspired and it really got me thinking about sound, music and why I live for it.

"What is music?" That is the question that documentary filmmaker Christopher Pomerenke went on a quest to find out. Talking with musicians like Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips, Becky Stark from Lavender Diamond and recent Decemberists' album 'Hazards of Love', MGMT, Spoon, actors like Elijah Wood, Juliette Lewis, Jason Schwartzman, producers, music supervisors and even doctors. Each person interviewed explains how their body and emotions react to music and rhythms; scientifically, psychologically, physically. They all discuss how it all starts from the heartbeat you hear in the womb, how your body reacted to the rhythm and then they illustrate, both figuratively and literally, how each person processes sound, vibration and music. I found this to be extremely interesting and engaging. Any one who is a lover of music, and if you are reading this blog, then you know you are...I would definitely check this out.
