MONSTERS OF FOLK

Monsters of Folk is comprised of Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and singer/songwriter M.Ward. Although these critically acclaimed artists have shared the stage before, this album marks their first recorded output as a band. All four members play every instrument on the album, supplying everything from drum kills to cascading backing vocals. The songs – some road-worn fables, some intimate and intricate with electronic elements, some woozy and sun-soaked – are everything one expects from these four musical minds collaborating together. The album exudes a warm, organic spaciousness, filled by brilliant choruses, intoxicating harmonies and effortless melodies, as each member brings his own strengths to the table to create one perfect whole.

"Monsters of Folk is an honest-to-goodness debut album from a band that deserves consideration for merits entirely their own—not goodwill earned by the principles in their regular gigs." - Stereo Subversion

SEA WOLF'S "WHITE WATER, WHITE BLOOM" OUT NOW!

An expansive collection of modern mythology and lush orchestration, Sea Wolf’s sophomore LP, White Water, White Bloom, was penned solely by Alex Church, produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk) and recorded with a full band (keyboardist Lisa Fendelander, bassist Ted Liscinski and drummer Joey Ficken). These new compositions were injected with a raw, dynamic energy that the band developed through extensive touring together and are once again display on their current US tour with Sara Lov www.myspace.com/saralov. Set against the changing of seasons, the record unfolds like an epic poem over 10 tracks. Pulsing with evocations of nature at its most elemental, Sea Wolf's songs are filled with vivid imagery and a cinematic sense of movement.

"(Alex) Church and Mogis lace their autumnal anthems with strings, organs, woodwinds, and clash cymbals, creating mini-symphonies that leave their mark but rarely overstay their welcome. The resulting tunes are lush, but few are truly dense, and White Water's biggest asset is its ability to wield such a large sound without replacing the woodsy, cozy feel of Church's solo performances." - All Music Guide
