WORLD PREMIERE VIDEO - THE TING TINGS

That's Not My Name

THEIR BACK!! We haven't seen anything new from The Ting Tings in awhile, but the band is back with their second single off their U.S. release. "That's Not My Name" was actually the very first song I heard from them, and was instantly hooked. Now lets just hope they come back around on another US tour!

Also, check out another version released in the UK awhile back for the same single. Which one do you like better? I dig the original!

WHAT AN AMAZING CAUSE - GET YOUR TICKET NOW!!!

INVISIBLE CHILDREN VALENTINE’S DAY RAFFLE:

SAN DIEGO-- This Valentine’s day, Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy and singer-songwriter Tyrone Wells are playing cupid for a cause. Invisible Children, a media-based organization that provides relief for the war-affected people of northern Uganda, is holding a raffle to win a personalized Valentine’s videogram for your sweetheart. Tickets can be purchased as two for $2, four for $5, or 20 for $20 on Invisible Children’s online store until February 11th.

Winners will receive a personal note from Pete or Tyrone to their Valentine via video on February 14th, with all proceeds going to Invisible Children. The raffle’s inception came about with Wells in 2008, who has largely been involved with Invisible Children throughout the years. Wells has participated in their national event called the Global Night Commute, and by selling the original ‘Rough Cut’ documentary on the road. Wentz has also been an active advocate for the organization, taking Invisible Children out on three Fall Out Boy tours, including their upcoming tour in April, along with his involvement in other fundraising initiatives, including his recent art show in Los Angeles with Travis from Gym Class Heroes.

Invisible Children’s ability to creatively integrate a community of musicians and artists around its mission has generated a global awareness about the longest-running war in Africa in an entirely unique way. With the success of 12 band tours, benefit shows, and music festivals like Bamboozle and Warped tour, Invisible Children has empowered artists to use their voice in a powerful and inspiring way.

IN CASE YOU MISSED EM...

O.A.R. performed on Ellen this week. I saw them years and years ago at the Greek Theater in LA, and I didn't really know who they were. I really like this song, so it's good to see them performing on one of the biggest talk shows around.

IT'S SHOWTIME!

The holidays are gone, but show season has started up and it kicks into full gear this week. On Monday night I checked out a showcase for an upcoming artist from Australia named Gabriella Cilmi. She is from the land down under, and she's ready to take America by storm.

She showcased at The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood in front of a packed house full of industry folk and made it know that's she's ready to top the charts with likes of Adele, Wino & Kate Nash. She was adorable, and has this HUGE voice that'll stop you in your tracks. She was absolutely incredible!! Look out for this fox from down under and her new single "Sweet About Me"!

Thursday night is the return of LVD (Low vs Diamond) at the Troubadour! I see them every single time they hit LA! I'm a huge fan...so look for the pix from that show. Also, Greg Laswell on Friday, Katy Perry on Saturday and more show to come each week!!

IN CASE YOU MISSED EM...

Okay...so my latest obsession is Fleet Foxes! I have been hooked ever since I saw them on SNL a few weeks back. Well, I had lunch with my friend who manages their music producer and she gave me some of their music. The CD has not left my car CD player since I got it and I think I have track 4 on repeat. Mykonos is track 4 and its off FF's last record, SUN GIANT.

Check out their performance on SNL!

I just decided today that I was going to begin picking songs or videos I think you should know about each week. This is my first pick and it comes from an amazing singer songwriter by the name of Lisa Hannigan.

This is the official video for Lisa Hannigan's song, Lille from her forthcoming album, Sea Sew.

The video was produced and directed by Jamie Hannigan.

GREAT LAKE SWIMMERS ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR

BRAND NEW ALBUM 'LOST CHANNELS' WILL BE RELEASED
MARCH 31ST

SELECT JANUARY DATES WITH WILCO'S JEFF TWEEDY

"The group's songsmith Tony Dekker has without doubt created a repertoire of songs that belong to a dreamtime--ones that could easily have been sung for hundreds of years."
- New York Press

"Banjo-fueled indie folk that pushes the boundaries of traditional songwriting."
- Top Indie Releases in 09, Denver Post

"Dekker's bare-bones songs have played out like an afterword to a watery schlep across Erie or Ontario: He's empty and downtrodden from the journey, but wiser for the hardship."
- Time Out NY

Vancouver, January 21, 2009 - With their fourth album LOST CHANNELS set for release on March 31st, Toronto folk rock favorites are taking to the road to showcase their outstanding new batch of songs. The US tour will kick off on the west coast in Seattle on March 31st and includes marquee dates at Spaceland in Los Angeles and The Bowery Ballroom in New York.

Their live show has won them ever-expanding audiences in the United States and Europe, and of course their native Canada. In 2008 GREAT LAKE SWIMMERS shared the stage with an impressive list of artists, including Feist, Bela Fleck & The Sparrow Quartet, Hayden, Goldfrapp, Bill Callahan of Smog, and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss. And with select opening dates for Wilco's Jeff Tweedy later this month, the list continues to grow.

The anticipation for the full-length follow up to the highly praised 2007 album ONGIARA has already started to accumulate. Feature album previews have already popped up everywhere from Brooklyn Vegan and Pitchfork to Paste, Venus and Time Out New York.

LOST CHANNELS, their fourth album, finds them once again recording at historic locations, this time in Thousand Islands region of Ontario and New York state, telling tales of hidden histories, still "mining for light in the dark wells," still "tuned to an instrument of greater and unknown design."

The instrument in question is the singular voice of Tony Dekker, a voice that summons ghosts from times past. It's a voice that is capable of conveying heartache and comfort all in the space of a single phrase. Though his supporting cast has changed over the years--with the exception of longtime right-hand man Erik Arnesen--Dekker has always encircled himself with sympathetic players who value spacious arrangements that frame his vocals. Over time, the band has evolved from a sparse, delicate and hushed unit into a well-rounded folk rock band, sacrificing none of their original intimacy while upping both the volume and tempos when necessary.

Lost Channels also features the talents of Julie Fader (flute/backing vocals), Greg Millson (drums), Darcy Yates (bass), along with special guests / Swimmers collaborators Serena Ryder with vocals on "Everything Is Moving So Fast" and Bob Egan on pedal steel.
