The idea for this tour struck a chord with the band. "Art thrives during difficult times...Times of economic crisis, political turmoil and social injustice always spark an artistic movement of some sort," said Alicia Campbell, Audrye Sessions' bass player. KATE MILLER-HEIDKE

Last week we had the honor of attending a very intimate evening with the Brisbane based Kate Miller-Heidke. This was her FIRST EVER US performance, so we were very luck to have been there. She performed at the revamped Largo at the Coronet Theater in The Little Room. It was a fantastic new venue that I really appreciated.

Heidke came out with her guitarist/vocalist, in a blue, 1980's prom dress, a black headband, and shiny silver shoes and brought to us a very fun, interesting, and unexpected performance. Bringing pop, singer/songwriter and classically trained opera together and creating a dark, whimsical but fun place to be. The Australian duo definitely have their own place in the American music scene. She sang 'Caught in the Crowd', 'Can't Shake It', a song about Facebook, and even did an amazing, operatic rendition of Britney Spears' 'Toxic'!

If you have yet to have crossed paths with this lovely Aussie, check her out @ http://www.blogger.com/www.myspace.com/katemillerheidke
and follow her on twitter @ twitter.com/kmillerheidke

FRESH AIR

Internationally revered French electronic pop duo AIR, Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin, will release their fifth studio album Love 2 on October 6th, the follow-up to 2007’s acclaimed Pocket Symphony, and the first production to spring to life from their very own state-of-the-art recording facility Atlas Studio.

Nestled in the leafy backstreets of northern Paris, Atlas provided a creative haven for the band to produce these twelve new songs, recording and producing for the first time entirely by themselves. These recording sessions again saw the band handling all vocal duties and cemented their association with LA-based drummer/percussionist Joey Waronker, who had previously joined them for their intimate, three-man "Close up" tour of south-east Asia in the Fall of 2008. Stéphane "Alf" Briat, a long-time fixture of the Paris music scene, whose work with AIR dates back to some of their earliest material, came on board for the final mixdown at Atlas.

A viral single "Do The Joy" will be made available digitally on July 7th, followed by a formal single release for the summery pop anthem "Sing Sang Sung" on August 25th.

AIR’s 1998 debut album Moon Safari struck a unanimously harmonious chord with music lovers around the globe and has since become an electronic pop classic. Since then AIR have enjoyed many career-defining moments and accolades, both at home and abroad, and have written, produced and collaborated on a breathtaking array of music projects.

With 5.5 million worldwide album sales to their credit, the band has become de facto ambassadors of modern French pop, whose fans are drawn back to each new musical adventure by their inventive arrangements, and a playful yet unpredictable palette of sounds and songcraft.

AIR will set out on a European tour in early 2010 starting at the legendary Casino de Paris in their hometown and will then embark on North American dates during the Spring.

DIVISION DAY SIGN TO DANGERBIRD RECORDS

Dangerbird is thrilled to announce the addition of Los Angeles quartet Division Day to our roster of artists. Division Day will see the release of their much-anticipated sophomore full-length, Visitation, on August 18. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (NIN/Beck/Gnarls Barkley) and mixed by Todd Burke (Ben Harper/The Rumble Strips/Idlewild). The follow up to 2007’s Beartrap Island, Visitation finds the band steering confidently into darker territory, marrying synthetic and organic textures in songs about death, transformation, and the devil.

Division Day was formed while the band was still in school, and Beartrap Island was self-released in 2006. They took to the road, touring the west coast relentlessly, making a splash at CMJ, where they caught the ears of The New York Times, leading to a commercial release the following year. Response to the record was tremendous, garnering excellent reviews, and nationwide tours. Some excellent words about Beartrap Island:

“Division Day turn their own sorrow into something worth celebrating.” —Pitchfork
“They call themselves 'Freestyle / Hawaiian / Shoegaze,' which is kind of misleading. They should just call themselves "lovely" and be done with it.” —NYLON
With renewed focus and excitement, Division Day will return to the road upon the release of Visitation. Dates to be announced shortly.

MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE ADAM

Nettwerk Music Group will release the official motion picture soundtrack to the upcoming romantic comedy Adam on July 28; the award winning film opens on July 29. The album features tracks by such popular Nettwerk artists as The Weepies, Lucy Schwartz, and a previously unreleased track from Miranda Lee Richards (“Beautiful Day”).

The soundtrack also includes two tracks from Joshua Radin, including one brand new song, “When You Find Me,” that was written by Radin specifically for the film and features vocals from Nettwerk artist Maria Taylor. Additionally, there are five newly composed tracks from award-winning composer Christopher Lennertz.

Romance can be risky, perplexing and filled with the perils of miscommunication - and that's if you aren't ADAM, for whom life itself is this way. In this heartfelt romantic comedy, Hugh Dancy (THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB, CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC) stars as Adam, a handsome but intriguing young man who has all his life led a sheltered existence - until he meets his new neighbor, Beth (Rose Byrne, "Damages," 28 WEEKS LATER, KNOWING), a beautiful, cosmopolitan young woman who pulls him into the outside world, with funny, touching and entirely unexpected results.

Their implausible and enigmatic relationship reveals just how far two people from different realities can stretch in search of an extraordinary connection.
