We finally made it to Friday!! Woot woot...let the weekend begin! Its been a hard week for many, trying to get back to the grind after such a long holiday break can be difficult.
Anyhoo...one of my favorite bands out right now is Kings of Leon. You must check out this great interview KOL did with ShockHound.
Lady GG performs unplugged! Watch a brief interview and then her unforgettable performance of "Poker Face" from her most recent visit to Cherrytree House!
We are just 8 days into the New Year, and already the GREAT music is flowing! Erin McCarley is the latest singer I have been obsessing over. Her debut album, Love, Save the Empty was just released yesterday and her music is already receiving a large amount of exposure on TV shows like Grey's Anatomy and One Tree Hill. She is also featured on the "He's Just Not That into You" soundtrack and is one of the artists featured in the trailer.

East Hundred is a five-piece band from Philadelphia who's sound can be likened to Denali and Death Cab For Cutie. On January 13th they will self-release Passenger, their first full-length effort. The nine lushly produced tracks move through a haunting melodic landscape of loss, regret and ultimately, hope. If the young band seems to wear its heart on its sleeve, it does so honestly.
East Hundred began as a basement recording project in 2004 when brothers Brooke and Will Blair (guitars and drums, respectively) invited Beril Guceri, Brooke’s then-girlfriend, to add vocals to their heavily-synthed downtempo tracks. “Of course there were hesitations in working seriously and creatively with my boyfriend and his brother," Guceri says. "Singing leaves you so vulnerable, but it was Brooke’s support that made it comfortable." The band was rounded out by David Sunderland (bass) and Susan Gager (keyboards).
In 2007, just as work began on Passenger began, Brooke and Beril’s relationship ended. Rather than derail the recording process, the resultant heartache and awkwardness produced a flood of new material and what was intended to be an EP soon became a full-fledged album. Brian McTear (Mazarin, Matt Pond PA, mewithoutyou) came on to record the new songs at Philadelphia's Miner Street Studios.
East Hundred comes out of old friendships and failed loves. Their music shores up their relationships…or the relationships feed their music…or it’s a little bit of both.
The sophomore record from Ladyfinger (ne) will be released on February 3. It's entitled Dusk and it rocks. The follow up to 2006's Heavy Hands is now available for pre-order on the Saddle Creek online store. Order now, and we'll ship it two weeks early on January 20th! In the meantime, please feel free to share the first single "Little Things". (stream or download) I've included the MP3, or if you prefer you can link to it on our website.
Dusk is Ladyfinger (ne) at the peak of their powers, with one foot in the sounds of early 70's classic rock and another in the punk and hardcore scenes of the late 80's and early 90's. Recorded once again with Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus the Bear, Isis), this is a more diverse and refined though no less intense collection of songs than their debut--witness Chris Machmuller's confidence in his vocals grow exponentially and Pat Oakes' powerhouse drums finding a firmer root to propel every snare hit and bass kick. An album clearly born of playing local dives and national tours over the last couple of years, Dusk is a statement of intent. The dynamics of each song and across the album are more evident, from the opening 1-2 punch of "Over and Over" and the bass growl of "ADD", through the sharp riffs and aggressiveness of "Work Party", the plaintive "Plans"--a subtle look at the band's own past--and into the hit-in-the-making "Let's Get Married".
The latest video from Jason Mraz - 'Lucky' featuring Colbie Caillant. I just got the album over the holiday, and I haven't ever really been a big fan, but this CD is really good!
Band Adds Another Batch of US Tour Dates for February '09; Will Perform on the Tonight Show January 9th
Just when you thought it was safe to take your ladyfriends out again, Eagles of Death Metal are perched and ready to swoop in. The band has already toured their mustaches off this year but the road once more beckons and the people have spoken... there will be more Eagles for the masses in '09!
Earlier this year, the gang warmed up with a co-headlining stint with fellow mischief-makers The Hives. They followed up with their own full-scale, national headlining tour. After the Eagles bus takes a quick pit stop for the holidays the boys will set sail again - this time for a voyage across the globe, including a February full of US dates. Expect the band to unleash a storm of freshly brewed concoctions from their latest saga, Heart On (Downtown Records), plus all the hits you crave from EODM albums of yore.
In 2004, Eagles of Death Metal launched their wholesome good-graciousness with Peace, Love, and Death Metal, followed, in 2006, by the diabolical Death By Sexy. Earlier this year, the two captains of the EODM starship (a.k.a. Jesse "Boots Electric" Hughes and Joshua "Babyduck" Homme) laid down the dozen new rumpshakin' rock hard rock tunes have taken shape in the form of Heart On. The Dream Duo recorded in Burbank, Los Angeles, Boise, Fargo, and Amsterdam, and were joined in the studio by fellow midnight maurauders Miss Kat Von D, Brian "B.O.C." O'Connor, Darlin' Dave Catching, Alain Johannes, Troy Van Leeuwen, Brody "Queen Bee" Dalle, and Kim "Koko Bubbles" Martinelli. Check out this latest chapter in the Eagles story, which is in stores now.
Be sure to catch the band on January 9th as they spit sex and fire for a performance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno!

Ugh...back to the grind guys! I hope you all had an amazing couple of weeks filled with holiday joy! Mine was fantastic, but it's now time to get back to business! I have HUGE plans this year, so I need to get moving!
So, I was introduced to this band over the weekend and now I'm completely obsessed! You know how I love the Swedes and the music that comes out of Sweden. The Sounds, Robyn, Lykke Li...just to name a few.
Well, here is my latest obsession from Sweden. A group called Those Dancing Days. You must watch their video for 'Hitten.' How cute is the girl with the big hair? I love her and I love this band!
I was listening to KCRW one morning and I heard them play a song called "Chocolates and Cigarettes" from Angus & Julia Stone. I was instantly taken by their music, both lyrically and vocally. Hailing from the northern beaches of Sydney, Australia, Angus & Julia Stone form two halves of a brother/sister folk musical act.
You definitely need to get to know these 2...I see a BRIGHT 09 for A&JS. They are set to kick off a string of U.S. dates in March, along with their FULL album release.
ANGUS and JULIA STONE : ARIA AWARD nominated (Australian Recording Industry Association) for BEST GROUP, BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST – ALBUM, BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST – SINGLE (The Beast)and BEST BLUES AND ROOTS ALBUM!
"THE BEAST" EP is out NOW! Be Sure to check out the music video for "The Beast" on Facebook and what the fans are saying too! CLICK HERE
