KCRW WELCOMES AQUALUNG

Matt Hales aka Aqualung returns with songs from “Words & Music." He stopped by KCRW last week to perfom songs from his latest project.

I WANNA BE A HILTON

Once upon a time Tyler Hilton played a showcase in this tiny restaurant in Hollywood. I remember my friend Erin (who now lives in Australia and I deeply miss) and I checking out this unknown singer. We loved this guy and we knew right away this guy was going to go far!

Anyway, like 5/6 years later Tyler is still going strong. He is in the studio working on his upcoming album and this what he had to say on him myspace page.

Also, check out the video from one of my favorite songs, "You'll Ask For Me."

Studio...Still & The New and Improved "TH BOOKS FOR KIDS" Site

Writing you from the studio on the first day of the last chapter. The engineers are playing with buttons and they don't need me. Got a sweet little record on our hands, I think. Just wanna add a l..i..t..t..l..e more frosting. But I don't want to bore you with things to come. I'd much rather dazzle you with what already is! The new and improved www.THBooksForKids.org is up and running as of today! Check it out, look around, see what you think and, who knows, maybe you'll find you have some ideas on how you can help us or we can help you. Dig it, dig it, dig it. Hope y'all have been watching the videos Brad and I have been putting up every week, too. It's a little band aid on the "where is your new album, Tyler?!" wound. See you guys this fall on some of the live dates, yeah?! 'Til then...

Low vs.Diamond is hitting the road again as well! A message from the boys...

It's hard to believe we've just finished up a month of being out on the road with Santogold. It was an amazing tour. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, we had a really great time.

We're also very excited to announce that we'll be performing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson as well as Jimmy Kimmel Live! in November.

Last but not least, the video for our single Heart Attack will be airing on MTVu's The Freshman starting next week. Please help us by voting for it as their video of the week. Voting begins Monday October 20 and ends at noon on Friday 10/24.

The STARS Were Out That Night!

First I would like to apologize for the delay of this review, I have been traveling and working, and just now getting a chance to tell you about STARS!! I had the chance to visit a friend up in Oakland recently and we saw that STARS were playing at the ever famous Fillmore in San Fransisco, so, of course, we got tickets right away. We headed over to the City around 7, headed upstairs to the lounge and sat above and watched the opening act, who's name I cannot remember at the moment, so obviously they weren't that memorable. Once they left the stage, we went downstairs to snag our place on the floor. Lights came on, band came out, and the entire stage was covered in white and yellow roses, which were thrown at the audience throughout the entire show. They put on a stellar (no pun intended) performance, as always. Super powerful and amazing!! I had the opportunity to see them about a year ago, and they pretty much performed all of their new songs of their new album, but some oldies, but this time around it was pure old school STARS. Most of the songs were from all of their previous albums from years past, with a few trickles of their new songs from their most recent release Up in Our Bedroom After the War! This album is amazing, and to me, there finest yet. You should definitly check it out on iTunes and check them out on myspace at myspace.com/STARS. Canada had proven to us once again that they produce amazing artists that I cannot live without.

IN THE ARMY NAVY NOW

Last Wednesday night I was invited to see a band by the name of Army Navy. I had heard a song on Indie 103, but never really thought twice about it. As you know I'm all about checking out new music around town. There are so many hidden gems in this city, which is why I constantly try and hit as many shows as possible.

Wednesday night happened to be the Army Navy record release party at the Echo, so an even extra reason to go out and support. Also, I was conveniently staying a 3 minute walk away, house sitting for a friend, so that was an extra incentive. 11pm rolled around and I headed out to catch a glimpse and pick up a free copy of their debut CD.

Army Navy was born in the bedroom of frontman Justin Kennedy. After parting ways with Seattle band Pinwheel where he shared frontman duties with Ben Gibbard (who would later go on to form Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service), Kennedy moved to Los Angeles and focused all of his energies on his new project. His demos quickly spread through LA’s creative community and ended up in the hands of bassist Benjamin Gaffin. Gaffin, who was from the Oregon Coast and had played in a handful of indie rock bands before relocating to LA to focus on his music career, immediately fell in love with the music. He passed the songs on to composer and solo artist Louie Schultz. Schultz was instantly hooked, and with the addition of mutual friend and drummer Josh Zetumer, Army Navy left the bedroom and moved to the clubs of Los Angeles. (SOURCE:MUSICREMEDY.COM)

Usually, if it's a late show I don't end up staying for the entire set, but this night was different. THEY WERE SOOOO GOOD! I couldn't get enough of this band and I was actually disappointed when the show ended. I wanted more!! All in all this band was fantastic and they definitely have what it takes to have a long-lasting career. Thanks to Anne for the invitation Wednesday night.
I recommend picking up a copy of their debut, self-titled album in stores and online now!

CHASING NYC PAVEMENTS

The amazingly talented Adele was on SNL this past weekend, but b4 that she made a stop at a local radio station in NY.

Here she is performing "Chasing Pavements" on 89.7 in NYC. She has one of the most amazing voices I think I have ever heard!
