LISTEN TO KCRW FOR THE MJ TRIBUTE TODAY!
Santa-Monica based public radio station KCRW will air Michael Jackson’s Memorial Service in its entirety on KCRW.com’s all music channel starting at 10am on Tuesday, July 7. Stevie Wonder, Motown records founder Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, Jennifer Hudson, and Lionel Ritchie are among the attendees expected to attend the public memorial, although the list is subject to change and few official details on the program have been announced. The memorial will take place in the Staples Center arena in downtown Los Angeles. KCRW will carry live audio from the event on http://www.kcrw.com/. More than 1.6 million people registered for tickets to the event and only 17,500 tickets were made available through a lottery system.
The ceremony will not be shown on the giant outdoor TV screen at Staples and there will be no funeral procession through the city. KCRW deejays have put together a number of tributes to the late entertainer over the last couple weeks, all of which are available in the archives on a tribute site, as well as Elvis Mitchell’s interview with Margo Jefferson, author of “On Michael Jackson,” from The Treatment: http://www.kcrw.com/music/michael-jackson

REMEMBERING MJ
Many artists have been influenced in different ways by the King of Pop - many reactions have been flowing in, including one from Chris Cornell. Check out a cover of "Billy Jean" from Chris.
Cornell’s Twitter: Driving from Poland to Berlin. Just Heard Michael Jackson died. Makes me sad. I remember the Jackson 5 on a black and white tv. He had magic!
Also, another cover of "Billy Jean" from The Lost Fingers.

THIS IS IT
I don't normally talk about MJ or his type of music on here, but I am making an exception for this one. Michael Jackson is about to embark on his "This Is It" tour, and it just so happens my buddy Shannon is one of the dancers!
I'm so proud of him and excited that he gets to experience such a HUGE moment like this. I just hope that MJ can make it through the entire 50 shows in London without canceling. I HOPE he make it to the first show in London.
Anyhoo...this is a promo of MJ's final show, featuring my friend Shannon. Congrats Shannon!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Halloween is truly one of my favorite holidays of all time. I know that 's a bit strange to say, but I just love all the fun things you can do with this holiday. I normally have a Halloween party at my house, but it has become such a project that I have taken that past few years off. I just always get a kick out of decorating my house with fake spider webs, black lights, strobe lights and scary music. That's the creative part inside of me, but more recently it's the grandpa side of me that has taken over. I think I just rather go to someones place and make a mess out of their house instead of mine. The day after my parties were just nightmares with the cleanup and stuff...
Anyhoo...to stay in the Halloween spirit, I have chosen some of my favorite vids that remind me of this ghostly time. First, the all time Hall vid is of course MJ's 'Thriller.' No Halloween is complete without hearing this song at least once. Second, 'Walking On Air' by the artist Kerli. It's kind of dark and creepy and she totally reminds me of the little Poltergeist girl.
Happy Halloween!
