"THEY CALL ME JANE, THAT'S NOT MY NAME"

Last night Jimmy Fallon, his audience, and television viewers had the extraordinary pleasure of seeing one of MusicBleep's favorites, The Ting Tings perform one of their latest hits 'That's Not My Name' from their debut album 'We Started Nothing'. We have had the appreciation of seeing them live a few times, and they are truly an amazing duo. Please check them out on www.myspace.com/thetingtings, get their album on iTunes and take a moment and watch:

KCRW WELCOMES MATT AND KIM

Matt & Kim stopped by KCRW to perform on Morning Becomes Eclectic a few weeks back. Can i just take a moment here to say how much i love KCRW? I mean, seriously!

I just wanna give a shout out to KCRW for brining us such great programming! They truly are the bloodline to what's fresh and hot! With the demise of indie 103.1 in L.A. a few mths ago, at least KCRW is still around pumping out great music.

Kudos to KCRW!

"YOU DON'T NEED NO DOCTOR, SUGAR"

From the Producer that brought us Keane and Snow Patrol comes a fairly new band, The Library! Think Gnarls Barkley meets Jamiroquai. Last Wednesday we were invited to their EP Release party at Boardners in Hollywood. Not only is this venue amazing and super packed, The Library put on an unforgettable performance! Performing all of their songs off of their self titled new album plus more, they had all of the audience jumping and dancing to their fresh funk! I see nothing put a great future from this LA based quartet. You can check them out on iTunes, www.myspace.com/thelibrary, or from their website www.thelibrarymusic.com If you are in the mood for a fun new sound, I highly recommend you check them out! They will be performing live March 20th @ U-31 in San Diego, March 22nd @ Cinespace in Hollywood, and March 28 @ Avalon in Hollywood. Go and see them, you will not be disappointed!!

INTRODUCING FRITZ HELDER AND THE PHANTOMS

Grammy award winner and multi-platinum selling recording artist, Nelly Furtado, has launched her music company, "Nelstar Music" and will introduce Canadian independent recording artist "Fritz Helder & The Phantoms" as the first act signed to the company. The group's album, "Greatest Hits" will be released on July 7 throughout North America via Last Gang Records distributed labels' division Last Gang Labels which currently works through Universal for Canada and Fontana/Universal for the U.S. International releases are also being planned.

"I've been thinking about a way to help Fritz Helder for a while and this venture grew out of my love for the band, their art and their work ethic. I am as committed as they are to bringing their creativity to the world," says Furtado.

Fritz Helder & The Phantoms is an electro-pop foursome from Toronto who started out as a dance troupe put together by choreographer Fritz Helder, and previously appeared with Nelly Furtado on tour. As word of mouth quickly spread on the group's electrifying performances they soon began booking their own gigs with acts like Lady Gaga, Dragonette and Semi-Precious Weapons.

The group features Fritz Helder (vocals, key-tar), Silk Helder (guitar, synths), Pastel Supernova (vocals) and Diego Superstar (vocals, synth, beats). The first single, out this spring, is "Lagerfeld Lady" and is an ode to the fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld. To check out the video for "Lagerfeld Lady" visit the group's website which reveals an incredible menagerie of video, music, fashion, remixes, and an impressive monthly online fanzine, "Moda Cinque."

"We love Nelly and this new partnership is a very exciting opportunity for us. It's empowering to work with a combination of people who believe in our project and are willing to help us see it through," remarks Fritz, the group's main vocalist.

Last Gang Labels is the distributed labels arm of Last Gang Records (home to artists such as Chromeo, Metric and MSTRKRFT) and was started to provide distribution, marketing and consultation services to smaller independent labels and independent artists.

"Nelly has been a long time friend and we at Last Gang are honored that she has entrusted us to help launch her music company and assist in working with Fritz Helder & The Phantoms," says Chris Taylor, Last Gang head.

Fritz Helder & The Phantoms will help close out fashion week in Toronto with a special live performance at Top of The Burroughes with Parallels, DINAMO AZARI & ALIXANDER III and TUXEDOMASK.

They are so funky - I love it! It's totally like a new version of Prince or a modern day version of Morris Day and The Time.

KCRW WELCOMES ANGUS AND JULIA STONE

My favorite duo from Austuralia, Angus and Julia Stone stopped by KCRW to perform songs from their latest record. You must watch these 2 in action - it's truly magical! If you are in Austin for SXSW, make sure to check them out. I can't wait to see them at their LA show, opening for Brett Dennen.

James Yuill's "No Surprise"

Over the weekend I was listening to KCRW and I heard a song played by artist, James Yuill. I waited in my car until I found out who the artist was, and immediately checked him out when I got back to my house. I realized that I already had some info about James in my inbox along with his current music video. Check out James Yuill's video for "No Suprise"

PANIC SWITCH” TURNED ON AT MODERN ROCK RADIO - #1 MOST ADDED

While Silversun Pickups prepares for their live debut of 2009, lead single “Panic Switch” has earned the #1 Most Added title at Modern Rock Radio this week, earning 24 adds total. The L.A. quartet is quickly shifting into high gear, as the April 14 release of Swoon on Dangerbird Records is lurking just ahead.

The first of two performances at SXSW will be at Stubbs Friday, March 20, for the Guitar Hero® Metallica Event, followed by one at Antone’s Saturday, March 21, at 12:00 a.m. SSPU has asked some local and international friends to join them for their Saturday show: The Duke Spirit (UK), Afternoons (L.A.), The Happy Hollows (L.A.) and The Pity Party (L.A.).

Silversun Pickups once again enlisted producer Dave Cooley and mixer Tony Hoffer for Swoon, the gurus behind Carnavas, to help create a tapestry of romanticism and frenzy. The band continues to enjoy its dichotomous relationship with sound, comfortably weaving from beauty into aggression, whilst dense melodies ricochet off distortion. “Panic Switch,” parades that classic SSPU formula: the steady, searing bass leads the charge, as the guitar falls in, drums march, keys echo, all in salute to Aubert’s sweet, wafting vocals. The accompanying video was recently shot in Los Angeles by Grammy-nominated James Frost, whose credits include Radiohead’s “House of Cards.” MTV News recently offered a sneak peek into the making of Swoon, showcasing the band in the studio and two songs from this forthcoming album.

Silversun Pickups will play a pre-Coachella warm-up show at the Glass House in Pomona, Calif. Sunday, April 12 before helping to usher in the 10th annual Music and Arts Festival alongside Paul McCartney, Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand and Leonard Cohen but will first warm up. The quartet has also been added to The Sasquatch Festival line-up on May 25.

MERCI! TRES BIEN!

Last Thursday at The El Rey in Los Angeles, we had the exciting pleasure of seeing French pop sensation Yelle (pronounced Yell-E)! This sold out show was filled with anybody from Harajuku girls to college bros, and everyone was having an electrifying evening. From start (with an introduction from BlogStar Perez Hilton) to finish it was a non stop dance party, and the whole crowd was participating, and it was hard not to. With her cute cartoony voice and the power popping participants of her DJ and drummer, they rocked the entire venue.

Even if you do not understand French, it is hard not to love each and every single song she sings. She kept going strong, keeping up the energy for over and hour and a half. Singing everything from her 2007 release 'Pop Up', we got super excited and jumpy when she busted out with 'Ce Jeu'! We just could not stop dancing! If you are not familiar with her, check her out at www.myspace.com/iloveyelle and take a look below at a clip from the show!
