Yesterday, "Last Call with Carson Daly" dedicated an entire show to Brett Dennen. The acoustic performance and interview was taped at the intimate Library Ale House in Santa Monica—one of Brett's favorite haunts. Fans were invited via a last minute Twitter about the taping, turning the evening into an impromptu concert similar to the coffee house shows Brett was playing just six years ago before his grassroots explosion.

LIVE SESSION WITH BRETT DENNEN

Singer/Songwriter Brett Dennen and New York based Brazilian ex-pats Forro in the Dark collaborated in studio to record new Brazilian flavored versions of hit songs from his 2007 album Hope for the Hopeless and a new track called “Joan of Arc”. The exclusive iTunes Live Session was released Tuesday. Forro in the Dark previously recorded with Steve Earle, David Byrne, The Brazilian Girls, and recently Thom Yorke. Also on the EP, Jason Mraz and Brett perform their notable duet "Long Road to Forgiveness."

Beginning Nov.13 Brett will back tour North America, this time with Vermont's Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Brett and band will start in Nashville and head across the country finishing with a home perform at the Fox Theatre in Oakland for a special homecoming New Year's Eve show (12/31). Brett is a true road warrior, he is currently bringing the good vibes to Germany on his European dates.

Brett Dennen performed "Make You Crazy" on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. April 21st, Brett will be on Ellen to perform followed by a stop at Carson Daly’s studio on Thursday, April 23rd. And his track “So Far From Me” will also be on Grey’s Anatomy at the end of the month!

Last Wednesday at the House of Blues Hollywood, we had the chance to see a wonderful performance by Brett Dennen. You may not quite recognize the name as of yet, but you will be hearing it a lot in the near future as he is definitely making his mark in music today! He has had songs on shows, such as 'Greys Anatomy', 'Scrubs', and 'House', so you may have heard him at some point. His third album "Hope For the Hopeless" dropped on October 21st, and has sold tens of thousands of copies.

The stage was set with a painting that he had done, 4 religious candles, and burning incense. He arrived onto the stage in white Dickies pants and shirt, and no shoes. He quietly picked up his guitar and started the show with 'Ain't Gonna Lose You', which I have to say was amazing. Once he finished that highly emotional, lyrical song, he definitely picked up the beat and got his jam on! I know this might sound a bit odd, but think Antony and the Johnsons meets Cat Stevens meets Jimmy Buffet meets Jason Mraz, and you will have Brett Dennen. I want to end the week with the Australian duo, Angus and Julia Stone. I have been digging their record for a few weeks now, and I said it before and I'll say it again - it's one of my faves so far this year! This is also one of my favorite songs from A&J.

Singer/songwriter Brett Dennen’s October release Hope For The Hopeless on Dualtone Music Group/Downtown Music will be followed by a pared-down mini-tour sponsored by organic drink-maker Guayaki Yerba Mate. Tickets become available September 18 for the intimate tour which starts in Portland, OR on November 3 and wraps at New York City’s Canal Room November 18. Please see below for a full list of dates. The mini-tour is a return to the smaller venues Brett began playing just five years ago; Dennen and his full band are preparing a larger headlining tour for early 2009. The tour celebrates the release of Brett’s third album Hope For The Hopeless out October 21. Billboard wrote that “Dennen is just as in demand as a solo performer [as a supporting act].” This summer, while on the road with John Mayer, USA Today listed Brett among three artists worth arriving early for stating, “these opening acts are the talent before the star storm.” Brett’s audiences have consistently doubled in size with each return to a city. Adding fuel to the fire is Hope For The Hopeless’ first single, “Make You Crazy” featuring Afro-Beat king Femi Kuti. It is an infectious, uptempo song already playing on tastemaker stations across the U.S.

Hope For The Hopeless features an increasingly electric take on Brett’s narrative-rich songs and pop, folk, rock and Afro-Caribbean sounds. The album was recorded at the Village Recorder Studios in Los Angeles with multi-platinum producer John Alagia (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band). Brett cites inspiration ranging from Fela Kuti’s Expensive Shit/Ransome Kuti, to Joni Mitchell’s Court And Spark, to The Rolling Stone’s Exile On Main St.
