SWEDE AS PIE

Get ready for the next Swede to invade America. Lykke Li is a twenty-two year old, singer/songwriter from Stockholm. She released her FIRST album this past February in her Nordic region and in March amongst the States. She will be hitting the US this May, kicking off her US invasion in Philadelphia and making stops in NY & LA along the way.

Her music has been described as "a mix of soul, electro and powdered-sugar pop".

QUEEN OF THE NIGHT

Kaki King ascended her throne last night at The Roxy on Sunset. Fresh off her recent ride at SXSW where she was one of the most anticipated performers - Kaki showcased her incredible talents in front of a packed house. Kaki's style combines "fret-tapping with slap bass techniques, using her guitar for percussional beats, as well as sound layering and looping, which creates a percussive and complex sound." Her recent album Dreaming of Revenge was released on March 11th, 2008 and features my favorite track 'Pull Me Out Alive'. I want to give BIG THANKS to Nicole at Big Hassle for getting me in last night! Also, I am going to attach some great pictures of Kaki from last nights amazing show in just a bit.

THE HILL ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC

The glam girls I have grown to love are back to kick off Season 3 of The Hills. Lauren & Co. are taking us to the “City of Lights” and bringing along some really great tunes. I love watching these types of reality shows on MTV, because they are always pretty fresh with the latest breaking artists and music (duh - it is MTV). Music featured in last nights episode included, ‘LA Girls’(Gilbert Le Funk ‘Fantastique’ Remix) by DJ Ruff & David Tort meet Angel de Frutos, Yelle, ‘A Cause Des Garcons’ – not only was Yelle’s song featured on the show, Yelle is MTV’s Artist of The Week. More featured artists/music included, A Cursive Memory ‘The Piano Song’, Marie Digby ‘ Fool’, Atomic Tom 'You Always Get What You Want', Kanye West 'Flashing Lights', Brazilian Girls 'Jique' and ‘Come on Come Out’ by A Fine Frenzy. AN APPLE A DAY

Oh how it pays to get your music in a commercial, TV show or upcoming film these days. The latest song that has me buzzing is that one from the current Apple MacBook Air laptop ads. Apple seems to be right on the money when it comes to selecting songs to run with their ads. Folksy French-Israeli singer Yael Naim is the latest singer to find commercial success after her song 'New Soul' was featured in the Apple ad.

MONDAY MONDAY MONDAY

It was so hard waking up this morning - I just wanted to stay in bed and get caught up on my Tivo! I couldn't have asked for a better weekend though.... It all started Friday night when I took in the Jens Lekman show at the Music Box, and I wrapped up the Easter weekend with some good food and even better friends over a Sunday bbq! It would have been nice to have one more day for some r&r, but that's not the case so I'm going to make the most of it!

HAPPY EASTER FOLKS!

Days like these always remind me of when I was young - Easter was always so much fun! I remember waking up and finding that Easter basket filled with candy, money, plush rabbits, and when I got older - CDs, clothing, live rabbits, etc... Anyway, today is your day to remember your youth. I am off to enjoy brunch with friends and eat lots of Starburst jelly beans. Wishing you all a Happy Easter!!
