LITTLE DRUMMER BOY

HOT CHIP ADD LIVE DRUMMER TO NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES THIS FALL

LIVE EP AVAILABLE NOW EXCLUSIVELY ON ITUNES

Hot Chip have spent much of the last 12 months compounding their status as one of the hardest working bands around. Apart from numerous musical side projects, remixing duties and running a record label, they have had sold-out tours in the UK, Europe and the US. Now the band are set to return to the US for a second tour this Fall. The dates include two shows each at the Wiltern in L.A., the Metro in Chicago, and Terminal 5 in NYC.

In addition to the music making partnership of Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Owen Clarke, Al Doyle and Felix Martin, the band will be adding a live drummer on these dates. The drummer, Leo Taylor has played with the bands Zongamin and Gramme and is sure to add another dimension to their already pulsating, propulsive, and unequivocally fun live shows.

If the band aren't playing in your area, you can enjoy a slice of their live experience from their new EP entitled iTunes Live: Berlin Festival. Recorded at Radialsystem V in Berlin on May 8, the 6 track EP features: "Over and Over", "Out At The Pictures", "One Pure Thought", "Don't Dance", "No Fit State", and "Ready for the Floor". It is available now exclusively on iTunes.

This is the second tour this year in support of their massively acclaimed album Made in the Dark released earlier this year. Made In The Dark was informed by two years of touring, so the album was designed to be performed live.

NEW SOUNDS!

The Sounds have announced on their official myspace page that they are back in the studio working on their next album.

No official word on name or release date.

Woo hoo!

TWO SILVER TREES - VIDEO PREMIERE

I recently posted two brief album trailer videos that showcased some scenes around Calexico’s home base of Tucson, AZ. The first trailer was composed of visuals highlighting the city's local color, and the second stood on the stark impressiveness of an airplane graveyard.

Directed by James Fleischel, the full music video for “Two Silver Trees” is impressive in its own right, and acts as the logical marriage between the teaser clips. Elements from both are more fleshed out, and we get a deeper feel for the wide range of Tucson's character: what starts at the cozy confines of the Hotel Congress Tap Bar ends in an expansive and extraordinary desert scene.

A NIGHT IN THE HOTEL

Tonight at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, one of my favorite singer/songwriter will be performing.

He has a new album and here is the latest video for "How The Day Sounds" off FLIGHTS FROM ALTO NIDO.

The video also features an appearance by Elijah Wood.

Head out to the Hotel Cafe if you have nothing to do tonight and want to catch a great show!

NO CURE FOR MY LVD

The long awaited debut album from LVD dropped last month and last night they took to the stage in celebration. The boys performed their entire album amongst friends, family and fans at the Troubadour for their first ever record release party.

I don't know what else to say, except that the show was AMAIZING as usual! I could seriously sit and watch them perform all night. My obsession will not quit me! Anyway, they have a few gigs on the east coast with Carolina Liar and then their back in LA for a night with Leno on August 27th.

Check these boys out if they hit a town near you!

THE NEW IT GIRL

Seems like Katy Perry is Capitol Records new "IT GIRL"! As her "I Kissed A Girl" logs its seventh week atop the Billboard Hot 100 and seals its status as the undisputed song of the summer in America, major Top 40 radio stations across the country.

KATY PERRY's debut is turning into the best new artist breakthrough story of 2008. Perry's fans -- online and in sweaty, exuberant Warped Tour crowds - have been several tracks deep on the album for months, but the major mass media is catching up as fast as it can…and the fever has caught on worldwide.

Her new single, the wild electronic romp "Hot N Cold" is scheduled for a Los Angeles video shoot late in August, with official release to radio early in September. Perry will make the premiere live television performance of "Hot N Cold" on NBC's Today show outdoor concert series.

KATY PERRY'S LONG HOT SUMMER:

"I Kissed a Girl" a SEVEN-WEEK US Billboard No. 1
and a No. 1 UK Smash Hit;
"Hot N Cold," New Single, Will Be Performed On Today Show

The Veronicas are back with a video for "Take Me On The Floor."

ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Well, we made it to hump day! We have almost made it to the weekend and the only thing that is keeping me going is tonight's LVD show at the Troubadour in WeHo.

I hope to see you all tonight! Tickets are like $12 at the door and definitely worth it, so head out tonight and catch Low vs. Diamond at their record release party.

In the meantime, keeping up with that fact that it has been LVD week; check the boys out at the Pemberton Festival this past July, and a studio session on Chicago's Q101.1.

FRESH NEWS: CRYSTAL ANTLERS INK A DEAL

I'm a huge fan of Touch And Go Records and the artists they represent. Today I want you to meet the new addition to the Touch And Go Family!

CRYSTAL ANTLERS SIGN TO TOUCH AND GO RECORDS

Crystal Antlers have been surrounded by beautiful energy lately. The
days of summer have been filled with the punk rock mischief of touring
cross-country on a vegetable oil-powered school bus as part of the
widely publicized F Yeah Fest (F Yeah Fest, New York Times),
filling massive orders for their self-released EP through their myspace page
(Crystal Antlers Myspace), and on downtime, drinking beers in
percussionist Damian's empty pool.

So as it happens, we’ve been caught under the spell of that energy and
floored by the burst of raw, soulful punk that is the Antlers debut EP
and live show. With that, we couldn’t be happier to announce that Touch
and Go Records will be reissuing the Crystal Antlers EP on compact disc
in October, with its first-ever pressing on vinyl to follow in November.
We’ll also be releasing a full-length album once the guys finish work
on it, so look for that in the first part of 2009.

Until then, you can tide yourselves over by catching the Antlers live as
they continue to spread their magic around the continent with Fucked Up
and The Strange Boys in September and later in October when they hit the
CMJ Music Festival.

DATES:

8/12 Los Angeles, California - 6th St. Warehouse - Fuck Yeah Fest Benefit

8/20 Los Angeles, California - Low End Theory @ The Airliner

8/30 Echo Park, California - Fuck Yeah Fest 5 w/ No Age, Negative Approach, High Places, Glass Candy, Two Gallants + More

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shout! Factory and the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum
Celebrate Christmas with the “Man In Black” and Friends

The Johnny Cash Christmas Specials 1976-1979 (4 DVD Box Set)
The Johnny Cash Christmas Special 1978 (Single DVD)
The Johnny Cash Christmas Special 1979 (Single DVD)

In Stores October 7

Los Angeles, CA – Shout! Factory is delighted to bring you holiday cheer with the October 7 release of the 4-DVD box set The Johnny Cash Christmas Specials 1976-1979, as well as single DVD releases of The Johnny Cash Christmas Special 1978 and 1979. The Christmas Specials of 1976 and 1977 were released in 2007. The footage on these DVDs has been unseen for 30 years, and is being made available through an exclusive agreement between Shout! Factory and the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum.

For his 1978 Christmas special, the third in as many years, Cash moved the usually Tennessee-based taping to Los Angeles, and, unsurprisingly, the program takes on a Hollywood feel. Guests include Kris Kristofferson and singer Rita Coolidge, both friends of the Cash family, who perform a heartfelt “Please Don’t Tell Me How The Story Ends,” and Steve Martin, one of America’s hottest new comics at the time. June Carter Cash, as always, performs with her husband, and other family members make appearances in this special as well.

For the 1979 broadcast, Cash’s annual CBS Christmas special returns to Nashville for a program featuring his father, Ray Cash, and his older brother, Roy Cash, in a visit to the small home in Dyess, Arkansas, where Johnny and his siblings were raised. Guests include Canadian pop and country star Anne Murray (“You Needed Me”), who was enjoying the most successful period of her career, and country music’s Tom T. Hall, whom Cash introduces as “my very favorite songwriter” before Cash and Hall launch into a medley of Hall’s hits “(Old Dogs, Children And) Watermelon Wine,” “The Year That Clayton Delaney Died,” “I Love” and “Country Is.” The show’s comic foil is the late Andy Kaufman, who appears as his character Latka Gravas from the hit network show Taxi.

The Johnny Cash Christmas Specials 1976-1979 4-DVD box set includes these two discs as well as the special from 1976 and 1977, previously released on DVD in 2007 by Shout! Factory. Taped from the family homes in Bon Aqua and Hendersonville, Tennessee, The Johnny Cash Christmas Special 1976 featured special guests Roy Clark, Merle Travis, Barbara Mandrell, Tony Orlando and Billy Graham. The Johnny Cash Christmas Special 1977 includes an all-star tribute to Elvis Presley with Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison, a selection of Christmas songs, as well as Perkins’s “Blue Suede Shoes,” Orbison’s “Oh, Pretty Woman,” and Lewis’s 1957 Sun smash “Whole Lot Of Shakin’ Going On.”
